GovWifi
Government Digital Service, UK
The vision of GovWifi is to enable citizens and members of staff to log into the Wifi of any public institution. I joined the team in the moment to go from Alpha to Beta. My role was to organise and undertake research to provide insights around user needs during product development. Working with a product team, I designed the service around the product and developed user scenarios for the service.
We build an online service for what was completely manual for the IT support teams before. My research insights have shaped the platform that allows government institutions to sign up and install GovWifi in their IT system. The online service gives specific information to answer common question, to help teams to set it up and to troubleshoot problems in their networks once it’s up and running - all self serve. This has led to an acceleration of sign-ups across the country and less support requests from GDS.
